America circa 2008

She runs a prostitution ring whose clients are a Who's Who of Washington DC power.

For this "crime," she's indicted by non-other than the US Dept. of Justice, which, for good measure, added various non-prostitution charges such as "money laundering" to the indictment. Serious stuff for DoJ to be expending resources on.

She's tried and convicted; faces years in prison. Her clients are not charged, nor, with a few exceptions, even identified.

The Madame commits suicide, we are told.

The prosecutors--little Elliot Sptizers all--sleep like angels.
