Five of Fifty Fingers Released From Abduction in Iraq

They sign on for Iraq duty as private contractors.

They head overseas as fully intact human beings.

They have names, but their publication would serve no useful purpose; and might bring further grief to their families.

What did they do while in Iraq? Only their private employer and presumably the USGovernment know for sure.

They get kidnapped while in theater (Iraq), allegedly by Al-Qaeda forces.

Some of them return to the US a few days ago, five of them actually.

But they return as severed fingers, each from one of the abductees.

The story is buried deep in the bowels of most newspapers and doesn't even manage a line or two on Drudge.

It barely passes the threshold of "news."
